How to Add Fathom Analytics to Your Ghost-Powered Website

In this post, I’ll guide you through integrating Fathom into your Ghost-powered website.

Sign Up for Fathom

First, you need to create an account on the Fathom Analytics website. Head to fathom.com and sign up for an account. Fathom offers a free trial period to explore its features and see if it fits your needs.

Create a Site

After signing up, log in to your Fathom dashboard and create a new site. You’ll asked to enter basic information about your website, including its name and URL. Once you’ve done that, Fathom will generate a tracking code you’ll need in the next step.

Add Fathom Code to Your Ghost Website

Now, it’s time to integrate Fathom into your Ghost website. Follow these steps:

  1. Access Your Ghost Admin Panel: Log in to your Ghost admin panel by visiting yourwebsite.com/ghost.

  2. Navigate to Code Injection: In the admin panel, go to “Settings” and then “Code Injection.” This is where you can add custom code to your website.

  3. Insert the Fathom Tracking Code: In the “Site Header” section of the “Code Injection” settings, paste the Fathom tracking code you generated in your Fathom dashboard. This code usually looks like a JavaScript snippet.

  4. Save Changes: Don’t forget to save your changes!

Verify Installation

After adding the Fathom tracking code to your Ghost website, it’s a good idea to verify that everything is working correctly. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Wait for Data: Give Fathom time to start collecting data. It might take time, so be patient.

  2. Check Fathom Dashboard: Head back to your Fathom dashboard and see if your website is registering any activity. This will confirm that the tracking code is successfully integrated.
